Thank you for taking the time to explore our LIFE CHANGE Volunteer Ministry Guide which highlights the opportunities available for you to serve the Lord here at Mid-Way Baptist Church. We have named this LIFE CHANGE Volunteer Ministry because through your volunteer efforts you will see people’s lives changed and your own life will be changed as well.
1 Peter 4:10 is very clear in that we are commanded to use what we have been given to serve others. Do you have a ministry in this church? Are you involved in such a way that you would truly be missed if
you were to move away?
We are committed to helping you find that special place to serve God and make an eternal difference in this ministry. If you have not taken the Church Connection Classes yet we would urge you to sign up for them as soon as possible. This series of classes will help you better understand yourself and the special area of the ministry God may be leading you toward.
If you are interested in helping in any of the following areas here at MBC, then please contact Pastor Gene Schuyler at gene@mid-way.com or by calling the church office at 919-772-5864.
Preschool Ministry
Our mission is to provide a loving, caring and safe environment in which our preschoolers can learn and grow to love and serve God. We understand that children learn more effectively through relationships of love, trust, and acceptance than any other way. Even small infants begin forming attitudes and concepts that affect their spiritual and emotional growth. We believe that, as they grow and learn, preschoolers are capable of worship, and they want to have fun. Ultimately, we desire to see all children grow as Jesus did, “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52)

Children's Ministry
In Children’s Ministry we are not only equipping the church of tomorrow, we are equipping the church of today! We believe that children--even very young children--have a deep spiritual capacity for absorbing the truth of God’s Word. We count it a great privilege to plant the Eternal Word into such fertile, rich soil!
Children’s Ministry is not about your skill level or even whether you “love children.” It’s about being obedient to the call of God! So pray! There are currently more than 50 individuals, with a wide variety of gifts, talents, and levels of maturity and experience who are enjoying the incredible joy of touching the tender hearts of children with the Eternal Word of God!
Kingdom Seekers Children’s Ministry offers exciting programs such as:
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Kidstuf
Kidstuf uses music, drama, video, and humor to entertain and inspire the family to live their faith. It provides families with valuable experiences and reinforces the virtue that is taught in LIFE groups.
First Impressions Ministry
We don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. A simple hello and a smiling face is key in helping members and guests feel welcome before they ever sit down. The ushers, greeters, and parking team at Mid-Way play a crucial role in preparing both members and guests for a meaningful worship experience.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Worship & Celebration Ministry
The music ministry of Mid-Way Baptist Church exists to exalt the name of Jesus and to place Him on the highest place above all else. Through music we are committed to growing our hearts closer to God while teaching the importance of worshipping God in spirit and in truth.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Media
The Media Ministry plays a key role in assisting with the production and execution of all services at Mid-Way. Each job in the Media Ministry is vital to the overall outcome of each of our services, ensuring that they are run with excellence. Put your technical know-how to work in one of Mid-Way’s many media areas.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Publications
For a ministry the size of Mid-Way it takes a lot of printed materials to get the word out on all that is going on in this ministry. Almost every ministry produces flyers, manuals and brochures to promote their ministry. If you are talented in any of these areas please contact the Publications Department for available service opportunities.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Administration
The Administration/Office Ministry exists to efficiently manage church functions, day to day operations, and printed materials to inform and educate our church body. Weekly volunteers are needed as support for our office staff.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Women's Ministry
The Women’s Ministry at Mid-Way exists to help women face the broad spectrum of life’s challenges by encouraging a vital, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and other women. Through seminars, retreats, Bible studies, and other “just plain fun” gatherings Mid-Way provides the tools necessary to build relationships where growth, encouragement and mentoring can occur. The mission of the women’s ministry is four-fold:
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Men's Ministry
Band of Brothers provides events, Bible studies, and prayer circles that enable men to build authentic relationships with other men and provides avenues for growth in their walk with Christ. This enables them to become better witnesses, husbands, fathers, and friends. When we grow in these areas, it implements our Pastor’s vision for reaching our city for Christ and holds up our Pastor’s hands as he leads our church.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Buildings & Grounds
We are thankful for the buildings that God has given us to use for worship and ministering to the needs of others as they attend our services. It is important that our church be cared for and well maintained for the glory of God. Our desire is that every person that enters our facility will sense that God’s work deserves the best that we can offer.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Care Ministry
The Care Ministry exists to offer assistance, care, emotional and spiritual support to individuals and families who are in need.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Missions
Mid-Way is committed to taking the gospel to our local community and to the uttermost parts of our world. Through our missions giving, along with local and foreign service projects we are actively involved in fulfilling the Great Commission wherever and whenever we can.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Outreach
Mid-Way is committed to following up on those who visit our church and those who have not been in a while. We view this as a priority and provide numerous opportunities for outreach every week.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
S.O.A.R.
Mid-Way believes that sports and fellowship clubs can be used as a tremendous vehicle to promote fellowship, unity, and the evangelization of friends, family and associates. Sports ministry offers a non-threatening opportunity to invite the community to our church with the ultimate goal of seeing participants come to faith in Christ, and grow in Him.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
